THE PREAMBLE
The journey begins down south. Not quite “deep south”, where you expect to see Robin Wright yelling “Run, Forrest, Run!” but enough for a proverbial Dorothy to know she is not in Canada anymore. Also, Dorothy would be shocked at how much money she would be saving by clicking those red high heels together rather than scheduling a return flight on Delta. At least those planes are evil flying monkey free, unless you get a hung-over flight attendant, then the resemblance is eerily similar.
THE PLACE
Nashville. Music City. A city that is home to the Predators, the Titans and the second most popular bachelorette destination in all of America. A city where you get lost in a swarm of hair extensions, cowboy boots, and matching tank tops emblazoned with phrases like, “NASH BASH 2018” and “BRIDIN’ DIRTY” in the generic flouncy cursive lettering that blesses every DIY Pinterest project.

The city itself is spectacular. Broadway Street is full of life, with rocking country music spilling out of every venue’s open garage door windows. Every live artist knows how to work a crowd, and they mix country classics amongst the set lists guided by $20 USD track requests at nighttime. The muggy 30+ Canadian temperature unit weather traces a bead of sweat down both your spine and the bottle in your hand as you belt out lyrics to Garth Brooks and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band while swaying alongside visitors from Kansas, Iowa, and other states from the American heartland.

TO THE ‘CHOS
Peg Leg Porker is one of the top-rated barbeque joints in Nashville as per a few different review websites, partly on the back of their amazing dry rub ribs (which you should definitely check out).
There are two choices when it comes to nachos: classic BBQ Nachos, or BBQ Machos, which have everything the classic option has, plus beans and slaw.

The BBQ Machos were ordered, along with a ½ rack of ribs and chicken wings. This first meal in Nashville set a HELLUVA tone. What a way to start off!
The pulled pork was tender and falling apart in your mouth. The Peg Leg Porker sauce was tangy and sweet at the same time. The slaw added a slap of freshness to counteract the heaviness of meat and beans. The only possible downside was that the beans made the chips soggy if you took too long. That can be an issue because everything on this menu is so godforsaken delicious that it’s hard to focus on just nachos to start. Anyway, if that were your biggest problem in life, my mother would say that life is going pretty well for you. But hey, if it does get a bit sloppy, you’re eating barbeque, what did you expect?
Another plus: literally around the corner is the Yazoo Brewery where you can enjoy a fine selection of local beers, including, but not limited to: pale ale, hefeweizen, porter, IPAs, and pilsner, all while relaxing in oversized Muskoka/Adirondack chairs depending on which side of the border you’re from.
Would I go back? Yes.
Did I go back? Also, yes.
I went back later that afternoon and got a full rack of ribs like a gluttonous gluttonous man enjoying a vacation.
Go to Nashville. You will not regret it.
